Thaspa beauty in the heart of Sydney's CBD

04/14/2009

On a cold and rainy Sydney morning and having battled the early morning commuters into the city centre the soft glow coming from Thaspa as I turned the corner was like a beacon drawing me into the warmth and dryness.

I was certainly craving some pampering with a two hour Aromatherapy duo treatment, including a body exfoliation, wrap and massage, and facial. As I entered the oyster coloured entrance I was warmly greeted and quickly ushered into a small treatment room (no form filling in this place), and before I knew it I was lying on a heated bed ready for my two hours of relaxation.

My therapist quickly went to work, using a Decleor aromatherapy exfoliation to smooth away my body’s dead skin cells. This was followed by a massage using Aromessence Spa Relax, which was extremely soothing and induced a feeling of wellbeing. My therapist then applied a rich cream body mask and I was wrapped in plastic (something I found a little off-putting) and a heated blanket to reinforce the hydrating action. Once I got over a few initial feelings of claustrophobia I found the cocoon effect intensely relaxing. I emerged from my cocoon about 15 minutes later when the mask was removed and my skin was left feeling soft, plump and rehydrated. The mask itself is intensely moisturising so there was no need for additional moisturising to be applied.

After this full body treatment it was time for my facial which was designed for dehydrated and dry skin and to restore balance to the skin's moisture levels. My therapist enquired about my skin type and any sensitivity and decided to use a variety of products on my face from Decleor’s Rose range and Thalgo.

Starting with a deep cleanse then followed by a light exfoliation designed especially for sensitive skin my therapist gently but thoroughly removed any residue of makeup or pollution from my skin. A soothing mask then started the rehydration process and I was treated to a wonderful deep neck and shoulder massage to relax me even further. My facial was then finished off with a Thalogo hydration serum, moisturising cream and eye cream. I was a given a number of Thalgo samples to try at home, however I am glad to say I was never pressured to buy any products.

This two hours of pampering left me feeling relaxed and re-invigorated, and ready to tackle Sydney’s busy CBD.
